Mets continued to make moves yesterday during the Winter Meetings, as they signed 30-year-old Asdrubal Cabrera late last night to a two-year, $18.5 million deal.
With the signing of Cabrera and the Neil Walker/Jon Niese trade, the Mets’ now have the infield depth they need. One huge disadvantage of the 2015 team was the lack of experience in the middle infield. Now, the Mets can use any combination of Cabrera, Walker, Tejada and Flores. Also, given Wright’s uncertainty with spinal stenosis, Walker and Flores are available to play third base if necessary.
It is so nice to see the front office working in the front office to fill the holes in the lineup and on the field to (hopefully) secure a spot in the playoffs next season. Now, we need a big bat…
Also, 69 days and 15 hours until spring training (!!!!)
I love these moves! Can’t wait for the season. (words I’d never thought I’d say again in regards to the Mets)
